The shell is zirconia ceramic rather than aluminium or steel — it resists the scuffs that make metal rings look tired after a month, and it won't trigger the nickel sensitivity that stops a lot of people wearing jewellery at all. It's rated IP68 for everyday water resistance, so handwashing and rain are fine; take it off for hot showers, swimming, hot tubs and saunas.
